24hourEDU MLO Course Guide

24hourEDU advertises an online 20-hour MLO pre-license course for $189, with exam preparation and NMLS hours reporting included. It may suit applicants seeking a video-based national course, but check your state’s additional education requirements and your available study time before buying. The advertised tuition is an education expense. It doesn’t establish your total licensing cost: testing, application, background checks, and other required steps are separate. Our NMLS registration guide explains how the account fits into your application.

Before enrolling, verify the provider and the specific course in the current NMLS education listings. A provider’s approval statement and identifier are useful starting points, but the course you select must satisfy the requirements for your intended license. NMLS explains how to determine state requirements and enroll in approved education.

How does the online course work?

According to 24hourEDU’s course information, lessons combine narrated videos with a displayed script. The course includes module quizzes, written scenario assignments, and a final course exam. Instructor questions can be submitted through its learning portal.

That structure is worth considering if you prefer watching explanations and reading along. If you learn best in scheduled classes with live discussion, compare that format with other providers before choosing. We haven’t assessed the responsiveness of instructor support or the accessibility of the learning portal.

Ask to see a sample lesson. Check whether the narration, navigation, captions or transcript options, and practice explanations work for you on the device you plan to use. A sales description can’t answer those personal learning questions.

How long do you have to finish?

The provider lists 14 calendar days to complete the 20-hour national course. Plan your activation date around time you can actually reserve for studying. Flexible lesson times still need to fit within the course’s completion window.

Don’t treat continuing access to study materials as an extension of the credit-bearing course. Ask the provider to distinguish:

  • The deadline for completing education for NMLS credit.
  • How long videos, the textbook, and exam preparation remain available afterward.
  • What happens if you miss the deadline, including any restart or extension costs.

Getting those answers before activation matters more than simply comparing how many months a provider lets you log in. A working applicant needs a realistic completion schedule and enough separate time to prepare for the licensing test.

Does it cover every state’s requirements?

The national course addresses the core education component. It doesn’t automatically establish that you’ve completed every requirement for every state license. Check your state MLO guide and the current regulator checklist before selecting a package.

NMLS specifies a national comprehensive course covering three hours of federal law, three hours of ethics, two hours of nontraditional mortgage lending, and twelve hours of elective content. States can impose additional education requirements. See the NMLS pre-licensure education specification.

24hourEDU says it can assign a state-law course at no charge after you pass the national course if it offers the required state-law education. Confirm the exact course, hours, timing, and bonus eligibility with the provider. Don’t assume a bonus module satisfies every state-specific requirement or covers additional licenses without limits.

Save the regulator’s checklist and the provider’s written confirmation together. After completion, check your education record in NMLS instead of relying only on a receipt or a certificate email.

Is exam preparation the same as passing the SAFE test?

No. Completing the education course and passing its final exam doesn’t mean you’ve passed the separate SAFE MLO licensing test. The included exam-preparation materials are a study resource; they don’t replace the licensing exam or guarantee a passing score.

Evaluate practice explanations, topic coverage, and your own weak areas before deciding you’re ready. A large question bank is useful only if it helps you understand the reasoning behind the answers. We haven’t verified a first-attempt pass rate for this provider.

Our SAFE MLO exam preparation guide covers the separate testing step. If you’re still choosing an education format, compare the MLO pre-license course options and verify each provider’s current terms.

Who should consider this course?

Applicants comparing online national MLO education may want to investigate the advertised package, especially if they prefer video lessons and bundled study materials. The decision should turn on your state’s requirements, a workable completion schedule, and whether the sample instruction suits you.

If you’re renewing an existing license, look for the continuing education required by your regulator. Pre-license education serves a different purpose. If you’re applying for a real estate salesperson or broker license, this mortgage course isn’t a substitute for that profession’s coursework.

Before buying, confirm current course approval, required state-law coverage, the checkout total, the completion window, post-course study access, and cancellation terms. Then use the MLO licensing checklist to plan the remaining application steps.
