Experience Requirements

Must hold 24 months of active salesperson experience within the preceding 5 years

Alternative Pathways:

  • Commission may modify or reduce experience based on educational background or related business experience

Experience must be as an active licensed salesperson.

Education Requirements

Complete a minimum of 90 hours of broker prelicense education including Brokerage Management, Real Estate Law, plus two approved electives.

Required Courses:

  • Brokerage Management (28 hours)
  • Real Estate Finance (20 hours)
  • Valuation & Analysis (20 hours)
  • Real Estate Law
  • Two electives from: GRI 101/102, GRI 201/202, or CCIM courses CI 101-104

All courses must be completed within 3 years preceding license application. Must pass final exam with 70% or higher.

Reciprocity Agreements

Idaho does not have reciprocity agreements with other states.

Individual brokers licensed in another state may become licensed in Idaho. IREC waives the national portion of the licensing exam for reciprocal applicants. Must submit certified license history and Exam Waiver Request form.
