Experience Requirements
Must have at least 3 years of experience as a licensed real estate salesperson in Minnesota or another state with similar requirements within the 5 years preceding broker exam application
Alternative Pathways:
Must not have had any real estate license revoked in any state within the past 2 years.
Education Requirements
Complete 30 hours of broker-specific coursework from a Department of Commerce-approved education provider.
Required Courses:
- 30 hours of broker-specific coursework
- Topics include: agency representation, anti-discrimination laws, federal fair housing laws
Online courses require proctored final exam. Certificate of Completion must be presented at exam site.

Reciprocity Agreements
Minnesota does not have reciprocity agreements with other states.
Minnesota has reciprocal licensing agreements with CO, IA, NE, ND, OK, SD, and WI. Brokers from these states only need to take the state portion of the licensing exam.
