Oregon Real Estate Agent License

Complete 150 hours of broker pre-license education from an Oregon Real Estate Agency-approved school. Only courses completed on or after January 1, 2013 meet licensing requirements.

In Oregon, entry-level agents are called 'brokers' (not to be confused with managing/principal brokers). Education must be from an Agency-approved real estate school.

Retake Policy: Can retake upon failure; exam and background clearance valid for one year

Cost: $61.25

PSI lists $46.25 Oregon State Police processing plus $15 PSI processing for initial broker applicants. Existing Oregon brokers upgrading to principal broker follow a different pathway.

Fee Breakdown

Listed fees cover the $300 application, $75 examination, and $61.25 fingerprint processing for an initial broker license. Education and other provider charges are additional.

License Renewal

Active broker renewal requires at least 30 hours, including the current Law and Rule Required Course and two-hour Fair Housing course. First active renewal also requires Broker Advanced Practices; use the Agency first-renewal checklist for the applicable course versions. Inactive renewal does not require CE.

License Reciprocity

Oregon lists reciprocal agreements with Alabama, Alberta (Canada), Georgia, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Requirements vary by license category; contact the Agency to confirm eligibility. Other out-of-state applicants must meet Oregon requirements without education or examination waivers.
